It's not all about fixing computers. Part of the day-to-day work in the workshop is sitting down with someone, their phone or laptop in front of them, and calmly explaining how to do something that's been worrying them. These are the individual IT classes I run in Oleiros, and this is what they're really like.

Who are these classes for?

Mainly adults and older people who want to lose their fear of technology: people who've been given a new phone and don't know where to start, who want to sort out something with the tax office or social security without depending on a family member, or who simply want to understand what all this talk of artificial intelligence is about.

What you'll learn in class

The basics: phone, WhatsApp, video calls

Setting up your phone, sending photos and voice messages, making a video call with the grandchildren, organising your apps so it's easy to find what you use every day.

Online admin

Booking appointments, navigating government websites, managing online banking safely — the steps that cause the most headaches, explained slowly and repeated as many times as needed.

Photos, files and the computer

Organising photos so you don't lose them, understanding folders and files, backing up what matters.

Artificial intelligence, without the fear

What ChatGPT or Claude actually are, what they're genuinely useful for, and how to use them for everyday things — no jargon, no rush.

What the classes are like

One-to-one, at your own pace, adapted to whatever you need at the time — there's no fixed syllabus. They can take place at the workshop in Perillo-Oleiros or at your home. You don't need to know anything beforehand: we start from wherever you are.

What if I don't have a clue about any of this?

That's the most common starting point, not the exception. Most people who come to class have never used a computer, or have only just started with a smartphone. There are no silly questions, and no rush to move fast.
