Types of laptop screen damage
Cracked screen (damaged LCD/OLED panel)
The most common type of damage. You'll see coloured patches, a distorted image, or areas that are completely black. This usually means replacing the whole screen.
Black screen but the computer still runs
If you connect an external monitor and it works fine, the problem is in the laptop's own screen (the panel, the video cable, or the connector). If the external monitor doesn't work either, the issue may be the graphics card or motherboard.
Vertical or horizontal lines
These can come from the LCD panel or the video cable (if the lines appear when you move the lid). If the cable checks out and the panel is at fault, it needs replacing.
How much does a laptop screen replacement cost?
Price varies by model and screen type. Standard Full HD screens usually cost €60-120 (screen plus labour). 4K, touch, or high refresh-rate screens can cost more. We give you an exact quote before starting.
When is it NOT worth repairing?
- If the laptop is over 10 years old and other components are also failing.
- If the screen cost exceeds 50-60% of the value of an equivalent new laptop.
- If there's other serious damage (motherboard, bent chassis) alongside the screen.

Yes. Most laptops have an HDMI or USB-C video output. You can connect an external monitor and use the laptop perfectly well while you wait for the repair.
